Features of the newest iPod Touch

The Apple iPod Touch 4 is out, and the newest version of this popular mobile device is better than ever.  The iPod Touch is already the number one portable game player in the entire world, outselling both Nintendo's and Sony's portable game players combined.  It takes up more than fifty percent of the market share for portable game players around the world, and over 1.5 billion game and entertainment titles have been downloaded to this iconic device.  The new version is certain to keep this momentum going as it's been redesigned with wonderful new features that iPod users are not going to want to be without.

 

The new model comes in three versions, an 8 gigabyte version for $229, a 32 gigabyte version for $299, and a 64 gigabyte model for $399.  The new iPhone has an even thinner profile than the older models, and has gotten rid of the bulge in the chrome steel at the back so that it can rest flat on a table top.  It's equipped with the 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen that's standard with all iPod touch models, but the screen now features a high resolution Retina display, which got a lot of attention when it was premiered on the iPhone.  This display is widely considered to be the best in the world, with four times the number of pixels, 326 pixels per inch.  These pixels are so small that they cannot be distinguished by the human eye, the resolution is just that remarkable.  The screen features 24 bit color and is back lit with LED lighting.

 

The new iPod Touch also features a high resolution rear facing camera, including an Omni directional microphone so that users can take 720p high definition video at 30 frames per second, and the resulting video can be edited directly right on the iPod Touch itself using either built in software or third party software from the App store.  There's also a lower resolution front facing camera that can allow users to make video calls to other iPod or iPhone customers using Face Time, which is a popular way for people to stay in touch with each other.

 

The advanced A4 processor runs the system extremely efficiently, and the 3 axis gyroscope sensor embedded in the device offers great additional options for control of games and applications.  Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities allow iPod Touch users an incredible range of connectivity in ways that would astound users of just a few years ago.  Also featured is iOS 4.1 with game center, allowing users a lot of extra power and functionality that they've never experienced before.

 

Considering how the iPod Touch has been advancing in leaps and bounds, it's little wonder that over the past year it's overtaken the iPod Nano to become the most popular iPod device available.  It goes beyond just music playback, but even in that it excels, now offering an estimated over 40 hours of music playback.  It's a beautiful device with many wonderful and varied applications that have won the heart of consumers all over the world.  The new iPod Touch is certainly one of the great tech devices that's making life easier and more fun for all of us.
